Unfortunately, adding RAM to a VMware Horizon DaaS desktop is NOT a simple process.  The following options are available for XTIUM clients who require additional RAM.

Note: there is a 5 seat minimum required for any client who is requesting mixed seat types for the FIRST time in DaaS.   Compute support and engineering will need to provision additional resources to the DaaS tenant.

DaaS RAM Upgrade Options:

1. Provision a new desktop using either "Premium" or "Ultimate" seat type.  Install user applications from scratch, migrate user to new desktop.  
   1. Advantages:
      1.  There is no downtime required in this scenario as the user will have two desktops and will be able to transition from old to new on their own schedule.  It's highly recommended that the desktop transition be completed within 48 hours to avoid confusion.
      2. User will have a fresh install of Windows which always provides a clean user experience.
   2. Disadvantages:
      1. Time and resources to install client applications.  This task needs to be performed by the client IT administrator or ITaaS tech if the client has purchased ITaaS.
      2. There are several things the client will need to reconfigure, for example custom dictionaries, email signature, browser history, etc...
2. Convert the users desktop to a DaaS image, deploy a new "Premium" or "Ultimate" desktop using the new image.  
   1. Advantages:
      1. There is no reconfiguration or application re-install needed as the desktop software OS will remain 100% the same.  
      2. User files, settings, email signature, custom dictionaries, recent sites and history will all remain the same.
   2. Disadvantages:
      1. Downtime is required while desktop is converted to an image and redeployed.
      2. Client may need to purchase a small block of disk to allow for an additional desktop image.
