The resolution should be exactly the same between a local computer and the remote system. However, some users notice that text is not as sharp on the remote due to screen smoothing technology on the local computer.

To turn this on for the remote, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Start > Control Panel.
  2. In the upper right, make sure the selection says Small Icons (not Category, to more easily access the Display control panel item).
  3. Double-click on Display.
  4. On the left side of the display options screen, click Adjust ClearType text.
  5. Check the box to Turn on ClearType.

The box below the checkmark will show you the difference between the two modes as you click on and off.

  6. Click Next.
  7. Follow the prompts to select the best looking text.
  8. There are four steps which help the system learn your best view. Click on the best looking option and click next through the entire series.
  9. Click Finish.
